Fawzia Ali has been named by Safaricom as its new Chief Consumer Business Officer. Her appointment took effect on March 15, 2023 and was confirmed by the company’s CEO Peter Ndegwa.

Ali, who has worked for Safaricom for the past fifteen years, has been occupying the role in an acting capacity for the past eight months. Ndegwa commended her leadership skills at the company. She has held several senior roles at the company across different departments.

“Following our transition into Agile, Fawzia has been one of the champions at leadership level, and in October 2021, she was appointed the Mobile Data Tribe Lead, a role she played with distinction, achieving double-digit growth during the last financial year,” Ndegwa noted.

Ali has previously served as Safaricom’s Head of Digital Products and Services, Tribe Lead (Mobile Data tribe), Head of Department (Consumer segment), Head of Regional Operations (Coast Region), Head of Consumer Planning and Pricing, and Manager (Financial and Management Reporting, Accounts Receivable and M-Pesa).
