Polycarp Igathe is back to the C-Suite after his failed bid for Governor of Nairobi in the 2022 General Elections concluded in August. South African manufacturing conglomerate Tiger Brands has named Igathe as its new Chief Growth Officer – Rest of Africa, effective December 1, 2022.
He will be tasked with expanding the company’s business in markets across the continent. The company manufactures a range of popular homecare, personal care, baby and food brands.
A seasoned exec, Igathe previously worked for Tiger Brands as the Managing Director of its East Africa business prior to joining Vivo Energy as Managing Director.
After early stints in his career at Coca Cola, Africa Online and Kenya Breweries Limited, he served for ten years as MD of Haco Industries. In 2008, Tiger Brands acquired a 51 percent controlling interest in the manufacturing company founded by the late tycoon Chris Kirubi for an estimated Ksh363 million.
Igathe would go on to serve as Deputy Governor of Nairobi, and later returned to Vivo Energy for a stint as VP Sales and Marketing. He also served as Group Chief Commercial Officer (CCO) at Equity Group for two separate stints.
