Fuel Prices to Remain Unchanged in August

Fuel prices in Kenya remain unchanged in the latest monthly price review by the Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA).

The Petroleum Development Levy (PDL) remains in place to cushion consumers from the high fuel prices. A litre of Super Petrol has been subsidised by Ksh54.91, Diesel by Ksh66.17 and Kerosene by Ksh74.17.

The price of Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will remain unchanged at Ksh159.12, Ksh140.00 and Ksh127.94 per litre respectively in Nairobi. In Mombasa, the maximum pump prices will be Ksh156.86, Ksh137.76 and Ksh125.69 respectively.

Maximum pump prices in Nakuru for Super Petrol, Diesel and Kerosene will be Ksh158.64, Ksh139.83 and Ksh127.79 per litre respectively. They will be Ksh159.53, Ksh140.7 and Ksh128.66 per litre respectively in Kisumu.

The General Election took place on August  9. Constitutionally, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission has seven (7) days from the date of the election to announce results of the Presidential election.

Businesses including SMEs and corporates are keen on the conclusion of what they hope will be a credible, peaceful process. The anxiety around the polls has led to a general slowdown in economic activity.

This comes even as Kenyans grapple with the high cost of living. Annual inflation accelerated to a five-year high of 8.3% in July from 7.9% a month earlier according to  Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) data.
