Global motorsport sensation Ken Block is in the country for this year’s East African Classic Safari Rally, and a section of Kenyans just cant keep calm.

Racing enthusiasts and casual fans are among those looking forward to watch Block in action. He is famed for his skillful driving and drifting abilities which are well documented on a number of viral videos.

Block will be racing a 1984 Porsche 911 in what has come to be known as the world’s toughest rally.

He has been gearing up for the race in Naivasha; making sure the car is in good condition and getting accustomed to the terrain.

“First day of testing our @Tuthill_Porsche built and prepared ‘84 Porsche 911 here in Kenya went very well! Fast roads, narrow tracks, rough stuff, wild animals, and jumps!” Block shared on Monday, February 7.

He had earlier expressed his excitement for the rally when he confirmed his participation in 2021. He spoke after the 2021 WRC Safari Rally was hosted by Kenya.

“The WRC has returned to Africa this weekend for the “Kenya Safari Rally” after a 19-year absence – which is really rad!! They’re running on some of the same stages I’ll be driving later this year for the East Africa Safari Classic Rally in my Tuthill Porsche… with the major difference being that we’ll be racing more than 3,000 miles over nine days, while the WRC is racing 200 miles over 3 days,” he shared.

The tenth edition of East African Safari Classic Rally (EASCR) to be held on February 10-18 has 20 new stages.

It runs from Naivasha, Nakuru county to Watamu, Kilifi County.
