William Kabogo, the man nominated by President William Ruto to be the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of ICT and Digital Economy, will be among the richest CSs in Kenya if his nomination is approved by Parliament.
Appearing before the Members of Parliament (MPs) for vetting yesterday, Kabogo, who is the first Governor of Kiambu County and party leader of the Tujibebe Wakenya Party, declared his net worth to be a little above Ksh3 billion.
“In total, I am worth Ksh3.01 billion. This includes a helicopter I previously owned but later sold,” he said.

That statement followed his explanation to MPs that his immovable assets include residential houses valued at Ksh700 million, land and farms projected at about Ksh756 million, and cash and current assets estimated at Ksh64 million. In addition, he has interests and shares worth Ksh1.5 billion.
With a Ksh3.01 billion net worth, Kabogo will be the second-richest CS after Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi, whose declared wealth amounts to approximately Ksh4 billion, comprising mainly liquid cash, high-end vehicles, shares and stocks in several large companies, and real estate, among other investments.
Hassan Ali Joho, the Mining, Blue Economy and Maritime Affairs CS and former Mombasa Governor, will be moved to the third position if Kabogo’s nomination is passed. His declared net worth of Ksh2.36 billion, constituting developed and undeveloped property in Mombasa, Vipingo, and Malindi and income from family businesses, is about Ksh650,000 less than that of the incoming ICT CS.
The Cabinet Secretaries who follow in financial standing, but by a significant distance, include the Environment, Climate Change and Forestry CS Aden Duale with Ksh980 million, Education CS Julius Migosi Ogamba at Ksh790 million, and Interior CS Kipchumba Murkomen with Ksh620 million.
But oops! The President? He’s far ahead — maybe Ksh100 billion?
