HBO’s hit social satire The White Lotus is heading to the French Riviera for its fourth installment, as creator Mike White continues expanding one of the network’s most successful franchises.
The premium cable network, owned by Warner Bros. Discovery, renewed the series ahead of the premiere of its third season, signaling confidence in a show that has become both a ratings draw and a cultural touchpoint since its debut in 2021.
Cast announcements begin to take shape
The first wave of casting for the upcoming season includes Alexander Ludwig and AJ Michalka, though their roles have not been disclosed.
Additional actors confirmed for the project include Sandra Bernhard, Helena Bonham Carter, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Marissa Long and Chris Messina.
More recently, three French actors joined the lineup: Vincent Cassel, Corentin Fila and Nadia Tereszkiewicz, reflecting the show’s new European setting.
Filming shifts to the French Riviera
Production is expected to take place primarily at Château de La Messardière, a luxury property operated by Airelles in Saint-Tropez, according to industry reports.
Like previous seasons, filming will span multiple locations rather than a single resort. The storyline is expected to unfold across the French Riviera, with additional scenes reportedly planned at a hotel in Paris.
Production is scheduled to run from April through October 2026.
Possible returning characters
Recurring characters have been rare in the anthology-style series. Natasha Rothwell appeared in both the first and third seasons as Belinda, while Jennifer Coolidge’s Tanya featured prominently in the first two installments. Jon Gries has appeared in all three seasons as Greg.
Rothwell has hinted she would be open to returning again, while Connie Britton, who starred in the show’s first season, has previously expressed interest in reprising her role if the opportunity arises.
There has also been speculation about a future “all-star” season bringing together characters from across the franchise. Actor Patrick Schwarzenegger, who appears in the third season, said he has heard discussions about the idea, which White has indicated he would consider.
For now, HBO has not revealed plot details for the fourth installment, though the show’s established formula—luxury travel, wealthy guests and simmering social tensions—appears set to continue on the Mediterranean coast.
