Riara University Breaks Ground For Sh20 Billion Campus at Konza Technopolis

Riara University has broken ground for a new campus at the Konza Technopolis. The Ksh20 billion Riara University – Konza Technopolis Campus will be the second and main campus for the university, which is accredited by the Commission of University Education (CUE) and the Council of Legal Education (CLE).  .

“The Riara University-Konza Technopolis Campus is poised to accelerate the next phase of our growth and development in line with our motto of nurturing innovators,” Prof Robert Gateru, the Vice Chancellor said.

The ground breaking, officiated by the Chief of Staff and Head of public Service Felix Koskei, marks the beginning of the development of the Silicon Savannah by the private sector.

“We are happy to see the private sector now come in and start to develop their projects,” Mr Koskei said, noting that the government has completed laying the horizontal infrastructure.

 Konza Technopolis has on-boarded over 140 investors within its various bands.  “We are excited to have Riara University start off their construction project, a statement to the fact that we are ready for investors.

The campus is an addition to the existing two institutions of higher learning,  Kenya Advanced Institute of Technology and Science (Ke-AIST) and Open University of Kenya (OUK),” John Paul Okwiri, Konza CEO said.

The university will be built in three phases, with phase 1 expected to be completed in March 2025.  “We are repositioning ourselves to become the innovation and start-up university of Africa, offering unique and specialised programs and science  technology, innovation and entrepreneurship in line with the model of Stanford University at Silicon Valley in California,” Mr Isaac Awuondo, Chairman of Riara University Council said.

Riara University is part of the Riara Group of Schools which was founded in 1974 by Daniel and Eddah Gachukia.
