President William Ruto is set to fly out of the country yet again on the evening of Sunday, June 2, after coming back from the US barely a week ago last Saturday.

President Ruto announced that he would be heading to South Korea at a church service at Amutala Stadium in Kimilili, Bungoma County, where he was forced to confess to congregants that his foreign visits were not for recreational purposes, especially since his US visit attracted controversies relating to the cost of the plane he used and taxpayers money.

“I promised to stay here [in Bungoma] up to Monday if you treat me well, and thank you so much, Bungoma people, for taking good care of me so far. However, this evening, I will be leaving for Korea not for recreation or fun activities but for purposes of bringing development to you,” he said.

It will be President Ruto’s second trip to South Korea. Two months after he was elected a state leader in 2022, he visited and held bilateral meetings with President Yoon Suk Yeol, which he says they are going to advance.

“I have been to Korea before, and this time, I am going to sign deals with the Korean Government on some of the agreements we had. For instance, we agreed on the creation of employment for the youth, and now I am going to sign a pact that will see thousands of youth move to work in Korea so they can bring dollars to build our economy. Have you released me to go? You know I had to explain it to you so that you release me.”

President Ruto was speaking in Bungoma, where he had been for the better part of the week leading to Madaraka Day, which was celebrated at its Masinde Muliro stadium.
