“One Battle After Another” takes Best Picture as Michael B. Jordan and Jessie Buckley win top acting honors.
One Battle After Another emerged as the biggest winner at the 2026 Academy Awards, securing Best Picture and Best Director for Paul Thomas Anderson while adding several other prizes during the ceremony in Los Angeles.
The film entered the night with 13 nominations and converted key categories including Best Editing and the newly introduced Best Casting, the first new Oscar category added in 25 years. Sean Penn also won Best Supporting Actor for his role in the film.

The awards ceremony, held at the Dolby Theatre in Los Angeles, was hosted for a second consecutive year by Conan O’Brien, with announcing duties handled by Matt Berry.
Despite entering the ceremony with a record 16 nominations, Sinners captured fewer top prizes but still secured major awards including Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan and Best Cinematography for Autumn Durald Arkapaw—the first woman to win the category.
Best Actress went to Jessie Buckley for her performance in Hamnet.

Other notable winners included the animated feature KPop Demon Hunters and the documentary short All the Empty Rooms, based on a project by Steve Hartman documenting the bedrooms of children killed in U.S. school shootings.
