Mama Grace Adhiambo has lived a painful life in a tiny, makeshift shelter crafted from sticks, mud, and plastic sheeting for years. Every day, she faced the challenges of rain, cold, and insecurity, with no relief in sight.

Her children, playing in the dirt, were surrounded by jerrycans and old furniture. To them, a safe home was a foreign concept.

She was overlooked by most, forgotten by society—until Interior PS Dr Raymond Omollo’s Widow Empowerment Program stepped in.

When the program identified her as one of the most vulnerable widows in her community, everything shifted. The Widow Empowerment Program didn’t just bring empty promises; they brought workers, materials, and, above all, compassion.

Brick by brick, a new home was constructed. Stone walls replaced torn paper, and a sturdy roof replaced the leaky plastic sheeting.

Mama Grace watched in awe. Her tears, once born from sorrow, were now tears of gratitude—a prayer answered.

A New Beginning

Today, Mama Grace lives in a safe, dignified home. Her children sleep soundly, no longer exposed to the dangers they once faced. They are surrounded by the love of their community and the support of the Widow Empowerment Program.

During the handover of the house, Mama Grace raised her hands in praise, overwhelmed by what she called a “miracle she never dreamed would come true.”

This isn’t just a roof over their heads—it’s the restoration of hope, the rewriting of a story, and the start of a new chapter.

Thanks to its patron, Dr. Raymond Omollo, the Widow Empowerment Program is doing more than providing homes. They’re offering dignity, visibility, and a renewed sense of hope.
