Kenya’s leading sports betting firm Odibets on Friday, 22 March 2024, unveiled a sponsorship of Ksh5 million for the Kenya Women 3X3 basketball team. Speaking during the event, Mr Dedan Mungai, Odibets General Manager, disclosed that the sponsorship would cover travel, the team’s merchandise and meals.

“They’ve displayed their spirit of excellence and are already the Champions of Africa,” remarked Mungai, pointing out that Odibets is keen on supporting young talent in the country through the Odimtaani initiative.

“Under our Odi Mtaani Foundation and as mandated by BCLB, we have committed to sponsoring sports in different fields as one of our key CSR pillars. Looking back, we started with Mathare United and several teams of grassroots level soccer including Harambee Stars,” he said.

The Kenya Women’s 3×3 basketball team emerged as the African Champions on 2nd December, 2023 after beating Egypt in the final of the FIBA 3×3 Africa Cup 2023 held in Cairo. The team consisted of Hildah Indasi, Madina Okot, Mercy Wanyama, and tournament MVP Natalie Mwangale, who put up an excellent performance during the tournament.

The team is heading to France for a tournament ahead of the main qualifiers in Japan for the Olympics games.
