Saturday June 20, 2015 was a big day for Gabriel Nderitu who was all set to try and fly his home-made aircraft for a sixth attempt, but became disappointed.
The locally assembled plane that Nderitu from Nyeri has been developing for about five years now failed to take off for the sixth time, Daily Nation reported. The ground for take-off was some temporary platforms made using wood boards to assist the aircraft ascend after taking off from the runway.
Unexpectedly, the aircraft nosedived after hitting the platform and crash-landed a few metres away. However, there was no one on board as it was being operated by remote control.
