A 38-year-old man from Myanga village in Bungoma County was sentenced to life in prison on September 17, 2025, for the sexual assault of a 4-year-old girl.
Job Wafula Lukhale was convicted following a trial that detailed the disturbing events of December 2024.
Court records revealed that Lukhale was found with the victim in a secluded thicket on the day of the incident
During the trial, prosecutors presented compelling evidence, including medical reports confirming the assault and three eye-witness testimonies, which established the accused’s guilt beyond reasonable doubt.
Senior Resident Magistrate M.A. Onyango, in handing down the life sentence at Bungoma Law Courts, stated, “I find that the prosecution has proved all elements of the offense of defilement, and I proceed to convict the accused.”
The court established that the incident had a profound impact on the young victim, who continues to suffer physical complications and psychological trauma, including abdominal pain, nightmares, and pervasive fear, according to a victim impact report.
Magistrate Onyango emphasized that the child’s age, the assault, and the perpetrator’s identity were all firmly determined, meeting the legal threshold for such conviction.
