Kidero, Itumbi Among Ruto’s CAS Picks – See Full List

Former Governors, Ruto loyalists and politicians who missed out on various elective seats in the 2022 polls dominate the list of President William Ruto’s nominations for Chief Administrative Secretaries (CASs) in different ministries.

Ruto’s picks were confirmed on Thursday, March 16. Former Narok Governor Samuel Tunai and former Nairobi Governor Evans Kidero were both nominated, in the Ministry of Interior and Ministry of Trade and Investments respectively.

Former Nominated Senator Millicent Omanga, who failed in her bid for Nairobi Women Rep, has also been nominated as a CAS in the Interior Ministry.

Former Nominated MP Isaac Mwaura was nominated as a CAS in the Office of the Prime Cabinet Secretary. Former Laikipia Woman Representative Cate Waruguru was nominated as a CAS in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, alongside former Kisii Deputy Governor Josh Maangi.

Former Kenya National Union of Teachers (KNUT) Chairman Wilson Sossion has been nominated as a CAS in the Ministry of Tourism and Wildlife. Former Kiminini MP Chris Wamalwa, who lost in the Trans Nzoia gubernatorial race to George Natembeya, has been nominated as a CAS in the Ministry of Water, Irrigation and Sanitation.

Kenya Kwanza digital strategist Dennis Itumbi and former EALA MP Simon Kamau were nominated as CASs in the Ministry of Information, Communication and the Digital Economy.

Former MPs Kimani Ngunjiri and Benjamin Washiali, both vocal Ruto loyalists, were nominated for CAS in the Lands/Housing and Roads ministries respectively.

Former Starehe MP Charles ‘Jaguar’ Njagua and Former Cherangany MP Welson Korir were nominated as CASs in the Ministry of Youth Affairs, The Arts and Sports.
