Chams Media, a content production company founded by veteran journalist Alex Chamwada, is fast breaking boundaries after securing accreditation to cover former US President Barack Obama’s speech during the 2018 Nelson Mandela Annual Lecture in Johannesburg, South Africa on Tuesday.
Chams was the only Kenyan media organisation that was accredited to cover the function. Elijah Mwangi, a producer cum presenter who has in the recent past been “taking over” The Chamwada Report, seized the moment to shine by covering the event for KTN and KTN News.
As expected with his strong mastery of current affairs reporting, he did not disappoint.
Apparently, other media houses had put all their focus on “Obama’s Homecoming” on Monday when he travelled to K’Ogelo to open the Sauti Kuu youth centre established by his sister, Dr Auma Obama.
One other TV station was even initially said to have gotten exclusive rights to cover the event.
Chams Media produces The Chamwada Report and Daring Abroad programmes which air on KTN.
Mwangi, who started as an intern at Citizen TV before moving to WTV, has steadily risen through the ranks to cement his space among the country’s best producers and hosts.
Other feathers in his cap include WTV’s Be The Judge, Breeding Cash, Sports Center and Business Recap shows.
