James David Kabeberi has resigned as a director of Kenya Airways, the country’s national carrier. The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc (“KQ”) made the announcement today through the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE), where the airline is listed.
“The Board of Directors of Kenya Airways Plc (KQ) hereby announces the resignation of Mr James David Kabeberi as a director of the company,” Mr Habil A. Waswani, the KQ Company Secretary, said in the signed statement. The announcement was made pursuant to the Capital Markets (Securities) (Public Offers, Listing and Disclosures) Regulations 2023, promulgated under the Capital Markets Act.
Mr Kabeberi, who joined KQ board in June 2023 after replacing John Ngumi, served as a director on the Board and was the Chairman of the Board Audit and Risk Committee. He was also a member of the Strategy and Business Development Committee and the Human Resources Committee. He also served as the Chairman of Fahari Aviation Ltd, a subsidiary of Kenya Airways.
John Ngumi, a renowned banker and finance expert, served on the board for about three years. Before being appointed director, Kabeberi was serving as an ex-officio member of the Kenya Airways Plc Audit and Risk Committee. He has over 40 years of experience in accounting, finance, and business strategy, among others. He also serves on the boards of First Assurance Company Ltd. and Proctor and Allan Ltd.
