Amid signs of escalating tensions in the Middle East, the Government of Kenya has stepped up efforts to support Kenyan nationals in Lebanon.
Kenya is urging its citizens to leave Lebanon, saying there was a risk of a retaliatory attack by Iran following last week’s Israeli airstrikes that killed the Hamas political leader Ismail Haniyeh in Iran’s capital of Tehran and a top Hezbollah commander in Beirut, the capital and largest city of Lebanon.
“Kenyans in Lebanon, we have noted with deep concern the unfolding situation in Lebanon,” the Ministry of Foreign and Diaspora Affairs said in a statement to the public, adding: “Urgently register with us through this link: https://tinyurl.com/2m9nw4ww or call +96590906719/+96171175006/+254114757002 for evacuation purposes.”

Lebanon is located in the Middle East. It is bordered by the Mediterranean Sea to the west, Israel to the south, and Syria to the east and north.
In October 2023, Hamas attacked southern Israel through Lebanon, killing nearly 1,200 people and taking more than 200 hostages.
Kenya now joins countries like the United States and the United Kingdom (UK), which have urged their nationals to leave Lebanon, as tensions that threaten to transform the war in Gaza into a region-wide conflict grow.
The State Department for Diaspora Affairs Principal Secretary (PS) Roseline Njogu stressed the urgency of the situation while assuring Kenyans in the Diaspora that their safety is their top priority.
