Turnover at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) on February 19 declined to Ksh553 million on account of 10.7 million stocks.
Previously at the bourse, trading had ended at Ksh569 million from a volume of 21 million shares.
The retreat was also accompanied by a drop at the indices counter as all indicators finished in the red zone.
Shedding 0.43 points, the All Share Index (NASI) settled at 156.20 while the NSE 20 share Index was down 24.42 points to stand at 3022.93.
The NSE 25 Share index ended 12.98 points lower to stand at 3956.92.
The Bond had bonds worth Kes.1.6Bn transacted.
In the Banking Sector, shares worth Ksh187 million were transacted which accounted for 33.81% of the day’s traded value.
Equity Group Holdings actively moved 2.3 million shares valued at Ksh100 million at
between Ksh42.05 and Ksh42.50.
KCB Group was down 15cents to Ksh42.65 and moved 801,000 shares worth Ksh34 million.
Diamond Trust Bank moved 122,000 shares worth Ksh18 million and closed at Ksh150.75.
The Commercial & Services Sector had shares worth Ksh5.2 million transacted which represented 0.95% of the day’s traded value.
Nation Media Group exchanged 72,000 shares valued at Ksh4.7 million at between Ksh65 and Ksh69.
The Construction & Allied sector had shares worth 4.4 million traded and accounted for 0.81% of the day’s traded value.
Bamburi Cement shares slipped by 7.14% to Ksh130 with shares worth Ksh4 million transacted.
The Energy & Petroleum Sector had shares worth Ksh7.8 million traded and accounted for 1.42% of the day’s turnover.
Kenya Power & Lighting was down 0.38% to Ksh5.18, moving 1.4M shares worth Ksh7.3 million.
The Insurance sector had shares worth Ksh8.6 million traded & accounted for 1.57% of the day’s traded value.
Kenya-Re moved 459,000 shares valued at Ksh6.5 million at a price of Ksh14.20.
The Manufacturing and Allied sector had shares worth 272 million traded and accounted for 49.16% of the day’s traded value.
BAT was the day’s biggest mover with 312,000 shares valued at Ksh198 million changing hands at between Ksh601 and Ksh636.
E.A Breweries closed 2.07% lower to Ksh200.75, moving 366,000 shares valued at Ksh73.5 million.
In Telecommunication, Safaricom had 2.4 million shares valued at Ksh63 million transacted at between Ksh26 and Ksh26.50; this represented 11.41% of the day’s traded value.
