The government has announced contingent measures to ensure the safety of all Kenyans during the festivities.

Interior Principal Secretary Dr Raymond Omollo has announced that a robust, multi-agency security plan is now in effect with security enhanced at all the airports, border points, hotels, malls, beaches, places of worship, tourist sites, and critical infrastructure across major towns.

To implement the plan, the government has operationalised the National Multi-Agency Command Centre (NMACC), headquartered at Lang’ata Barracks, which brings together officers from the Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), the National Police Service, National Government Administration Officers, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forestry Service and the Kenya Coast Guard Service,

Dr Omollo announced that the public should expect heightened security with over 10,000 officers deployed nationwide, including a specialized all-female SWAT unit focused on addressing femicide and gender-based violence cases.

“A total of 10,317 officers from the National Police Service, Kenya Prisons Service, Kenya Wildlife Service, Kenya Forestry Service and the Kenya Coast Guard Service have been deployed to manage public safety and address violations,” PS Omollo said.

Traffic safety is also a priority with more traffic officers deployed to tackle reckless driving, overloaded vehicles, and unlicensed public transport. Additionally, proprietors of shopping malls, entertainment joints, and event organizers are urged to collaborate with local security teams to strengthen private security efforts in liaison with the Private Security Regulatory Authority.

“The Government is dedicated to ensuring a safe and peaceful festive season for all. We urge the public to report any crimes or suspicious activities to the nearest police station or via hotlines: 999, 112, 911, or FichuakwaDCI 0800722203. Report disasters to the National Disaster Operations Centre 0800721571 and drug-related issues to the National Authority for the Campaign against Alcohol and Drug Abuse via the free helpline 1192,” the Ministry of Interior announced.

Omollo urged Kenyans to remain vigilant and cooperate with security agencies, noting that the measures aim to provide a safe environment for festivities.

“We are committed to ensuring that all Kenyans can celebrate this season in peace and security. Public cooperation will be key in achieving this goal,” he added.
