President Uhuru Kenyatta commenced the process of forming his Cabinet Friday during which he retained only six Cabinet Secretaries.
Thirteen CSs now face an uncertain future as they will be waiting with bated breath to see if they will be considered for new dockets. The President and his deputy William Ruto are expected to pick the maximum 22 CSs provided for in the Constitution as they embark on their second term in office.
The 2022 succession politics as well as regional balancing are some of the factors that will be at play, even as President Uhuru insists the key focus will be on ability to perform and integrity.
” In the next few weeks, I will unveil the men and women to whom I will entrust delivery of the Big Four, and other programmes that will transform this country. I will expect these men and women to serve Kenyans without partiality and with the very highest standard of integrity and efficiency,” Uhuru said in his New Year speech to the nation.
Here is the list of CSs facing a bleak future though it is not clear yet why they failed to make the initial cut:
1. Amina Mohamed (Foreign Affairs)
2. Mwangi Kiunjuri (Devolution)
3. Jacob Kaimenyi (Lands )
4. Eugene Wamalwa (Water and Irrigation)
5. Prof Judi Wakhungu (Environment and Natural Resources )
6. Raychelle Omamo (Defence)
7. Phyllis Kandie (East African Affairs)
8. Hassan Wario (Sports)
9. Willy Bett ( Agriculture)
10. Sicily Kariuki( Public Service, Youth and Gender Affairs)
11. Cleopa Mailu (Health)

13. Dan Kazungu (Mining)
