Condé Nast, a global mass media company, is reportedly in the final stages of selecting a new editorial lead for Vogue magazine. And Chloe Malle, a current editor at the magazine, is emerging as the frontrunner to succeed Anna Wintour.
Malle, 39, is the daughter of actress Candice Bergen and filmmaker Louis Malle. She joined Vogue in an editorial capacity and recently drew attention for her interview with Lauren Sánchez ahead of her June wedding to Amazon founder Jeff Bezos.
According to Page Six, she is said to be among four or five finalists currently being vetted by Condé Nast leadership, including CEO Roger Lynch and Wintour, who remains involved in the selection process. Other candidates reportedly include Nicole Phelps, global director of Vogue Runway, alongside a small group of external prospects.

The company is aiming to install the new head of editorial content ahead of New York Fashion Week, which kicks off September 11. The appointment will mark a pivotal transition for Vogue, following Wintour’s decision to step down from her U.S. editor-in-chief role after nearly four decades at the helm.
Wintour, 75, will retain her roles as global editorial director of Vogue and chief content officer at Condé Nast. Her tenure transformed Vogue into a dominant force in global fashion media, known for its authoritative tone, visual innovation, and cultural relevance.
Born in London and beginning her career at iconic 1960s boutique Biba, Wintour rose through the ranks of fashion media via Harper’s Bazaar, New York magazine, and eventually Vogue, where she took over as creative director in 1983 and U.S. editor-in-chief in 1988. Her first Vogue cover, featuring a model in jeans, redefined industry norms and set the tone for her influential leadership.

Beyond the magazine, Wintour has played a key role in shaping the fashion calendar, most notably through her oversight of the Met Gala guest list since 1995. She also inspired the fictionalized editor in The Devil Wears Prada.
A decision on her successor is expected within weeks.
