Global insurtech company bolttech has entered the Kenyan market through a partnership with LOOP, the fintech subsidiary of NCBA Group.

The move marks the expansion of bolttech’s presence in Africa as it brings its embedded protection and insurance solutions to what it describes as one of the continent’s fastest-growing digital economies.

The two firms will roll out a new product, LOOP FLEX, in October. LOOP FLEX is a Buy Now, Pay Later solution that allows customers to finance devices while enjoying built-in protection against theft, accidental and liquid damage, mechanical breakdown and extended warranty issues. Repairs will be handled at certified service centres using genuine parts.

LOOP DFS chief executive Eric Muriuki said the partnership was designed to combine access with peace of mind for customers.

“We are delighted to welcome bolttech to Kenya and to partner with a global leader in embedded protection. This partnership enables us to empower our customers with access to the devices they need through transparent and affordable financing powered by LOOP FLEX, as well as give them the peace of mind that comes with comprehensive protection. It’s another step towards delivering innovative, accessible, and digitally driven financial solutions that empower our customers to live and work with confidence.”

Bolttech’s device protection will be mandatory for LOOP FLEX users and will be seamlessly embedded in the LOOP customer experience.

Customers who lose their phones through theft will receive a voucher towards a replacement device after 30 days, subject to a 10 per cent deductible and a police report filed within 48 hours. The cover also includes a one-time repair for issues such as cracked screens, battery faults or casing damage, with claims filed and tracked digitally.

Stephan Tan, Bolttech’s CEO for EMEA and Group Chief Investment Officer, said the company was eager to tap into Kenya’s fast digital growth.

“Kenya is one of Africa’s most dynamic digital economies, and we are proud to enter the market alongside LOOP, a trusted and innovative local partner. Together, we are embedding protection into the device ownership journey, enabling more people to afford and safeguard the technology they rely on every day.”

The launch of LOOP FLEX comes at a time when the high cost of smartphones and the risk of damage or theft remain barriers for many Kenyans.

By combining financing with comprehensive insurance, the two companies aim to lower those barriers and support wider access to digital tools that are now essential in daily life.
