Bio Foods Products Ltd has launched a new Milk Collection and Service Centre (MCSC) in Chaka, Nyeri County, in a move aimed at strengthening the dairy value chain, improving milk quality, and raising farmer incomes.

The facility, unveiled on Wednesday, November 5, 2025, marks a major milestone in the company’s efforts to make dairy farming more sustainable, efficient, and profitable.

The centre will serve as a one-stop hub where farmers can deliver milk, access storage and testing services, and receive training on modern production practices.

It will also link them to financial and technical support from partner organisations such as Safaricom Digifarm and Unga Group.

Officials said the facility was established to address long-standing challenges faced by dairy farmers, including low milk prices, poor quality control, and limited market access.

The new model integrates services that will help farmers increase productivity and ensure they are paid based on milk quality.

Speaking during the launch, H.E. Bart Pauwels lauded the initiative, describing it as a model of what collaboration can achieve.

“This new milk collection and service centre stands as a symbol of what partnership can achieve. This initiative brings together Dutch and Kenyan private companies, government institutions and knowledge partners, all united by one goal,” he said.

Adding;

“To make the Kenyan Dairy Sector stronger, sustainable, and profitable.”

Bio Foods CEO Joachim Westerveld said the company is ushering in a new era where milk pricing will be determined by quality rather than quantity.

He noted that the shift would encourage farmers to adopt best practices and focus on producing cleaner, higher-value milk.

Westerveld added that the initiative is part of a broader plan to create a network of similar centres across Kenya to strengthen the dairy value chain, reduce wastage, and improve the livelihoods of smallholder farmers.

By working with partners such as Bles Dairies, ABPL, Unga Group, Safaricom Digifarm, and EuroDairy, Bio Foods hopes to build a transparent and efficient dairy ecosystem that benefits both producers and consumers.

The Chaka centre, he said, represents more than just a collection point it is an innovation hub that brings together knowledge, technology, and collaboration to transform the future of Kenya’s dairy industry.

The event brought together key stakeholders from Kenya and the Netherlands, including Bio Foods Products Executive Chairman and CEO Joachim Westerveld, Bles Dairies CEO Tsjalling Bles, ABPL Managing Director Kevin Kinisu, Safaricom Digifarm Director Seema Gohil, Unga Group PLC Managing Director James Nyutu, Hon. Omingo Magara of EuroDairy, Mercy Mbogo from the Kenya Dairy Board, and the Agricultural Counsellor of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Bart Pauwels.
