BBC Studios, the commercial arm of the British Broadcasting Corporation, has appointed Amanda Jones as its permanent Chief Financial Officer, effective next month.
Jones, who has been serving as interim CFO, takes the helm following a period of unprecedented financial performance for the studio, which generated a record $3 billion in revenue and $307 million in profit last fiscal year.
The move solidifies Jones’s position as a key figure in BBC Studios’ executive leadership, where she will report directly to CEO Tom Fussell.
Her responsibilities will span critical financial operations, including budgeting, reporting, business support, and financial controls, all while contributing to the company’s overarching strategic direction.
Jones will also gain a seat on the BBC Studios Executive Committee and become a member of the BBC’s Commercial Board.
Her appointment comes as commercial income plays an increasingly vital role in supporting the BBC’s public service mandate.
BBC Studios, the production powerhouse behind global hits like Baby Reindeer, Doctor Who, and Conclave, saw both revenue and profit surge by approximately 14% last year.
Jones brings a wealth of experience to the role, having previously held positions at media giants Sky, ITV, and Emap. She initially joined BBC Studios a year ago as interim CFO.
“As BBC Studios seeks to grow its business in a highly challenging market, Amanda will be instrumental in helping us drive the business forward to deliver against our ambitious plans,” Fussell stated, highlighting the strategic importance of Jones’s appointment as the studio navigates a competitive global content landscape.
Her permanent leadership is expected to be crucial in maintaining the company’s strong financial trajectory and expanding its global footprint.
