Apple Inc. has introduced a new slate of consumer and professional devices this week, headlined by its most affordable MacBook model to date, alongside updated iPhones, tablets, and high-end workstation hardware.

The product releases, which are available for pre-order and scheduled to begin shipping March 11, signal the company’s continued push to broaden access to its hardware ecosystem while maintaining performance gains in its premium lineup.

Entry-Level MacBook Targets Price-Sensitive Buyers

The company launched the MacBook Neo, a new entry-level notebook starting at $599, marking the lowest starting price ever for a MacBook-branded device.

The Neo is powered by the same chipset architecture used in the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max models, reflecting Apple’s strategy of leveraging mobile processor performance across multiple product categories.

The device ships with 256GB of storage and 8GB of RAM, a configuration Apple positions as suitable for basic productivity workloads rather than professional content creation.

The MacBook Neo is for users who want a laptop that does simple tasks, but still gives them access to the Apple ecosystem.

The laptop will be offered in silver, blush, citrus, and indigo finishes.

New Budget iPhone Adds Magnetic Charging Support

Apple also introduced the iPhone 17e, priced starting at $599, maintaining the entry-level price point of its predecessor while increasing baseline storage to 256GB from 128GB.

The new model adds MagSafe compatibility, allowing users to attach magnetic accessories and charge wirelessly using supported chargers.

The device is equipped with the Apple A19 and an upgraded C1X modem designed to improve energy efficiency and battery performance, according to the company.

Storage options include 256GB and 512GB configurations, and the handset will be available in soft pink, black, and white.

iPad Air Receives M4 Performance Upgrade

The latest iPad Air now incorporates the Apple M4 chip, which Apple says delivers roughly a 30% performance improvement compared with the previous generation.

The device also increases system memory from 8GB to 12GB, enhancing multitasking capabilities.

Connectivity has been upgraded to Wi‑Fi 7, which promises faster and more stable network performance under optimal conditions.

The tablet will be offered in 11-inch and 13-inch display variants, starting at $599 and $799 respectively, with storage configurations ranging from 128GB to 1TB. Color options include blue, purple, starlight, and space gray.

MacBook Pro Line Gains M5-Series Chips

Apple’s professional laptop segment was updated with the Apple M5 Pro and Apple M5 Max chips.

Both processors feature an 18-core CPU design, an increase from the 14-core and 16-core configurations used in earlier generations, allowing for improved parallel task processing.

The M5 Max variant includes up to 40 GPU cores, targeting workloads such as video rendering, visual effects production, and high-intensity computing applications.

The new MacBook Pro is available in 14-inch and 16-inch configurations.

Pricing begins at $2,199 for the 14-inch model with the M5 Pro chip, while M5 Max configurations range from $3,599 to $3,899 depending on display size and chip selection. The laptops will ship in space black and silver finishes.

New Studio Displays Target Professional Workflows

Apple also unveiled two new professional monitors, the Studio Display and the higher-end Studio Display XDR.

Both models feature 27-inch 5K resolution panels, a 12-megapixel Center Stage camera for video conferencing, three microphones, and a six-speaker spatial audio system.

The premium XDR variant incorporates a miniLED panel and supports adaptive refresh rates between 47Hz and 120Hz when connected to newer Apple devices.

The XDR model can deliver up to 140 watts of power through its Thunderbolt 5 interface, enabling faster charging for larger MacBook Pro configurations.

Strategy

The latest product rollout reflects Apple’s effort to balance premium hardware innovation with expansion into more price-accessible segments as competition intensifies in the global consumer electronics market.
