Anchor Bay Productions has been nominated for the Annual Journalism Excellence Awards (AJEA), marking its debut in Kenya’s prestigious journalism awards. The Media Council of Kenya reported a record-breaking 1,081 entries for this year’s awards, highlighting the fierce competition and high standards in the country’s journalism landscape.
Two compelling stories from Anchor Bay Productions are lined up for top awards. The stories submitted by Eugene Ameli include “The Cream of the Crop” and “How Crab Farming Changed Our Lives,” in the categories of Agriculture & Food Security and Blue Economy & Business Reporting, respectively. The team members are Elijah Mwangi (Producer) and Dennis Mairu (Video Editor).
“The Cream of the Crop,” illustrated the transformative potential of dairy goat farming in Kenya with a case study of Mwihoko Dairy Goats farm in Kiambu County. The second story, “How Crab Farming Changed Our Lives,” was shot in Dabasso village, Watamu and explored the evolution of crab farming from a conservation initiative to a thriving agribusiness in the coastal region.
Both stories were aired on Cape Media’s TV47 “Farming Today,” Show Season 1. “Farming Today,” which is an independent production by Anchor Bay delves into contemporary agricultural practices, addressing critical aspects of the farming value chain, including production methods, market trends, and modern farming techniques in Kenya and beyond.
