An advert announcing job openings at Equity Bank is fake.

The advert was shared by Facebook user Arlene Michael in the group ‘Homa Bay County Daily News’, offering a number of jobs.

Among the jobs offered in the ad include bank tellers, graduate trainees, interns, retail sales executives, customer service representatives, cleaners, and back office assistants.

The advert invited interested applicants to send their cover letters and CVs to an Outlook email ([email protected]), no later than October 28, 2023.

An investigation by Business Today found the ad to be fake.

In a statement on its verified X account on October 23, 2023, Equity Bank Kenya dismissed the ad as fake.

“FAKE JOBS ALERT. Please be informed that this job advert is not legitimate. Be vigilant and avoid sharing personal or banking information with fraudsters. Remember, Equity only calls you from one number: 0763 000 000,” Equity stated.

The bank added that it announces open vacancies on the careers section of its official website. Currently, there are no open vacancies listed on the website.

The lender does not list [email protected] as one of its email addresses, with the official email address listed being [email protected].

The ad announcing vacancies at Equity Bank is, therefore, fake.
