Absa Bank Kenya has, for the fourth consecutive year, been certified as Africa’s top employer by the prestigious Top Employer Institute, cementing its position as a home of talent in the financial services sector.

In addition to Kenya, the Top Employer certification was also awarded to Absa operations across five other African markets – South Africa, Zambia, Ghana, Botswana, and, for the first time, Mauritius. Retaining this certification underscores Absa’s consistent efforts to elevate its human capital practices while setting new benchmarks as a leading employer of choice in the financial sector across Africa.

Absa Bank Kenya Managing Director and CEO, Mr Abdi Mohamed, said the recognition reinforces the organisation’s commitment to building a talented, diverse, and future-fit workforce while positioning Absa as a respected organisation. “By investing in our people and fostering a culture of belonging, well-being, and excellence, we continue to enhance the employee experience and strengthen our employer brand,” Mr Mohamed. “Absa has also taken deliberate steps to enhance its work environment by strengthening psychological safety, diversity, and inclusion across its various business units.”

The Top Employer Institute recognises excellence in human capital practices. Through their Certification Programme, along with data-driven insights and advisory expertise, they enable companies to advance their talent attraction, development, engagement, and retention strategies.

Absa Bank Kenya Chief People Officer Mumbi Kahindo said the certification marks a significant milestone in Absa’s journey to realise its organisational purpose. “This achievement underscores our unwavering commitment to fostering a workplace where excellence thrives and our human capital practices set the standard for the industry. It is also a testament to the dedication of our entire team and reaffirms Absa’s position as a leading employer of choice in the financial sector,” Ms Mumbi commented.

“The certification highlights our commitment to Kenya and recognises the power we possess as a financial institution to nurture talent and propel the future forward by delivering impact where it matters most – our people,” Mr Mohamed.
