Banks dominate trade at NSE

The Banking Sector had shares worth Ksh 56 million transacted at the Nairobi Securities Exchange (NSE) on Monday, which accounted for 65.04% of the day’s traded value.

Equity Group Holdings actively moved 1.1 million shares valued at Ksh 43.9 million at between Ksh 36.50 and Ksh 37.00.

Co-operative Bank was down five cents to Ksh 11.40. It moved 633,000 shares valued at Ksh 7.2 million.

KCB Group up 1.03% to Ksh 39.35 moved 51,000 shares worth Ksh 2 million.

In the Telecommunication Sector, Safaricom moved 889,000 shares valued at Ksh 23.8 million at between Ksh 26.50 and Ksh 27.00. This represented 27.59% of the day’s traded value.

The Insurance Sector had shares worth Ksh 2 million traded and accounted for 2.53% of the day’s turnover. Kenya Re closed the day 1.41% higher to Ksh 14.35 moving 123,000 shares valued at
Ksh 1.7 million.

The Investment Sector had shares worth Ksh 1.8 million transacted which accounted for 2.14% of the day’s traded value. Centum moved 54,000 shares worth Ksh 1.7 million and closed at Ksh 31.80.

Equities turnover declined to Ksh 86 million on a volume of 3.6 million shares , against 18 million shares valued at Ksh 487 million posted on Friday.

The NSE 20 share Index was up 1.53 points to stand at 2648.27.
All Share Index (NASI) edged up 0.94 points to settle at 147.40 while the NSE 25 Share index picked up 14.32 points to stand at 3560.55.

The Bond Market had bonds worth Ksh 2.9 billion transacted compared to Ksh 2.5 billion registered the previous session.
