LFC World was coming to Nairobi. Not anymore.

The Liverpool FC fan experience global tour that was set to be held in Kenya’s capital in late February will not be happening.

The possibility of the event ever taking place hangs in the balance as the English club released scanty details when announcing the postponement of the Nairobi tour.

“It is with regret that the Club has taken the difficult decision to postpone our planned trip to Nairobi for LFC World,” Liverpool wrote on its website.

Liverpool did not indicate when the tour will be rescheduled to, only mentioning that “the Club looks forward to visiting our LFC family there in the near future.”

“We are hugely disappointed to be postponing this event as we were very much looking forward to spending time with all of the Reds in Nairobi.”

The move will come as a blow to the Liverpool fans in Kenya who were anticipating the arrival of the LFC World team.

In early January, Liverpool had announced that the February leg of their LFC World tour would take place in Nairobi.

A two day experience that was slated for February 23-24, it was meant to see St. Mary’s High School transformed into a hub resembling landmarks from Liverpool’s history.

Former Reds players Vladimir Smicer, Sami Hyypia and John Barnes were meant to be on the travelling roster. The hub was also set to feature a version of the club’s dressing room as well as photo opportunities with the UEFA Champions League Trophy – a cup Liverpool has won five times.

At the time of the announcement, Kop Kenya, the Official Liverpool Supporters Club in Kenya, had tweeted their elation at the possibility of experiencing the Reds fan experience.

“Scarcely believable. Incredible news. #KopKenyans going wild at the announcement!” the supporters club said at the time.

Kop Kenya, who also announced the cancellation of the LFC World fan experience on their social media pages, have been reached for comment.
