Schools from Coast region that were banned by the Coast Secondary Schools Sports Association (CSSSA) have now cleared to participate in term one games after their bans were lifted.

However, according to CSSSA Secretary Mwadena Munga, the teachers that were involved in those offences will have to serve full terms of their bans. The teachers will not be allowed to take part in any school sports activities until their ban is over.

“We want to start the year on a clean sheet thus the reason to lift the bans of those schools that were banned for reasons ranging from fielding ineligible players to causing trouble during their matches,” Mwadena said.

He further noted that the fact that Coast region will be hosting the National Term One games in April, made the association review the cases to allow competition.

Among schools whose bans were lifted are St Georges, Tononoka Secondary School, Shimo la Tewa and Lake Kenyatta Secondary School who were all serving bans in basketball, volleyball and handball.

“We are only dealing with the teams we banned at our regional games. Any teams that were banned at the National Level or County level will have to stay banned until their respective sports bodies say otherwise,” Mwadena added.

Kwale High School’s ban has not been lifted. They were banned for cheating during last year’s National championships in Embu.
