Kinoti: Two Riverside terror attack suspects arrested

Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) George Kinoti has confirmed that his unit has arrested two main suspects in connection with the DusitD2 attack in Riverside, Nairobi that claimed the lives of 14 people.

Kinoti on Wednesday said that the two suspects have been rounded up in Muchatha, Kiambu County and Eastleigh respectively.

One of the two suspects, a woman identified as Kemunto has been arrested at a house in Muchatha where one of the suspects is said to have been living prior to the attack.

The two have been taken to DCI headquarters on Kiambu Road where they are currently being grilled.

“The suspects are providing good information on the incident. We have established that they were in contact with the attackers. We are also tracking other suspects in connection with the attack,” said Kinoti.

Detectives who combed the Muchatha home where one of the attackers lived recovered bomb making material.

Media reports indicate that the detectives disarmed a bomb which was assembled halfway before carting it away for further investigations.

One of the attackers who lived in the house in Guango Estate,Muchatha was described as a social person who said hi to his neighbours once in a while but was not at home most of the time.

A neighbour of the attacker has positively identified the car used in the attack as belonging to a person he saw a couple of times.

In addition, the detectives also confirmed witness statements that the attackers had visited the DusitD2 complex a number of times before the attack to familiarize themselves with the layout of the building and its surroundings.
