The Standard Group has suffered yet another setback after crime and investigations reporter Dennis Onsarigo quit after landing a county government job.

Onsarigo, popularly known for Case Files and Inside Story programmes, has been appointed as the director of communications by Taita Taveta Governor Granton Samboja.

His departure means the investigations desk at KTN has been completely depleted following the previous exits of Mohammed Ali, now Nyali MP, and John Allan Namu, who went on to found the Africa Uncensored online platform.

Onsarigo, who holds a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.), Political Science/Communication degree from the University of Nairobi and a Diploma in Broadcast Journalism from Kenya Institute of Mass Communication, started off as a Business Development Executive for Africa 24/7 before joining KTN.

Apart from crime and investigations, he is also specialised in human interest stories and political reporting.

He once told KTN how he lied that he was a cameraman just to get an internship opportunity, which opened the door into the media industry for him. He joined KTN in 2011.

His departure comes months after the station lost its managing editor Joe Ageyo and news anchors Yvonne Okwara and Mashirima Kapombe to Citizen TV.
