Kenya Airways has moved to enhance user experience for travellers by signing a Memorandum of Understanding with Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Kenya.

The deal was signed on Thursday July 19 at The Norfolk Hotel by the Kenya Airways Chief Commercial Officer Vincent Coste and Fairmont Hotels and Resorts Group Director Sales and Marketing Guillaume Durand.

Under the agreement, Kenya Airways and Fairmont Kenya will seek to jointly marshal and position the airline as the preferred carrier into Kenya. The deal will also be geared towards persuading travellers coming into the country to choose Fairmont as the accommodation of their choice.

“We are combining our resources to focus on areas of synergy where our products and services are distributed as a complete package that targets to satisfy the needs of business and premium leisure travelers in Africa, United States and the United Kingdom,” said Coste.

The move comes even as Kenya Airways is scheduled to begin non-stop flights to New York on October 28 becoming the first airline to offer non-stop flights between East Africa and the US. The airliner also launched direct flights to Mauritius and non-stop flights to Cape Town, South Africa last month.

The partnership between Kenya Airways and Fairmont Kenya will give travellers a chance to stay at the hotelier’s three properties ; Fairmont The Norfolk, Fairmont Mount Kenya Safari Club and Fairmont Mara Safari Club.

The deal is being billed as an opportunity to allow both incoming tourists the chance to experience a variety of Kenya’s holiday destinations.
