The accident happened near Salama trading centre and involved a truck, a passenger bus, two private cars and a motorcycle. The collision caused heavy traffic as emergency responders rushed to the scene and worked to rescue victims.

In a statement shared via X on Monday, the Kenya Red Cross confirmed the incident and said all the injured were taken to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital for emergency treatment.

“27 critically injured casualties were evacuated to Sultan Hamud Sub-County Hospital following a major road traffic incident involving a truck, a bus, two private vehicles and a motorcycle at Salama on the Mombasa–Nairobi Highway last night,” the Kenya Red Cross said.
