A small Dornier 228-202 aircraft crash-landed at Wilson Airport in Nairobi on Friday, forcing the temporary closure of the busy facility as emergency services rushed to the scene.
Witnesses reported that the plane, registered as 5Y-CES, veered off during landing and came to rest after narrowly missing the airport’s perimeter fence along Langata Road.
No injuries have been reported among those on board, though the exact number of passengers remains unconfirmed. Similar aircraft of this type typically carry up to 19 people.
Emergency response teams were quickly deployed, and authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the accident.
By Friday evening, the Kenya Airports Authority had yet to release an official statement on the incident.
