Kenyan Originals (KO) has announced the launch of its newest offering — KO Dry Cider — a bold and refreshing 5% ABV cider crafted for a new segment of consumers seeking a flavourful, low-calorie alcoholic beverage. This launch marks a strategic expansion for the brand into a market that is increasingly demanding drinks with less sugar, fewer calories, and no bloating.

Made from natural ingredients including apple concentrate and yeast sourced from farmers in the Mount Kenya region, KO Dry Cider promises a crisp and satisfying alternative for beer drinkers. Its dry finish and clean profile make it ideal for consumers who want to unwind without compromise. The cider will be available in 330 ml glass bottles and 500 ml cans, both recyclable and designed with a modern, vibrant label that reflects the brand’s commitment to craft and quality.

The target customers includes style-conscious, culturally engaged men aged 28–40 who value authenticity, experience, and balance. These individuals are socially active, family-oriented, and seek out quality in the products they consume. KO Dry Cider answers their call for a beverage that fits seamlessly into both casual social settings and quiet moments of relaxation.

Since 2019, cider has grown in popularity across East Africa, with consumption rising by 200% as the beer category saw a decline of 12% (Kantar, 2023). This shift reflects a broader trend toward beverages that offer variety, dynamic branding, and a strong sense of identity. KO Dry Cider aligns with these preferences through its fresh packaging, bold flavor profile, and partnerships with local influencers and Mixed Martial Arts organizations.

“Kenyan consumers are redefining what it means to unwind. They’re choosing drinks that reflect their values — authenticity, style, and control. KO Dry Cider is our answer to that shift: it’s a bold alternative for beer drinkers who want crisp refreshment without compromise,” said Alex Chappatte, CEO of Kenyan Originals.

KO Dry Cider is now available in retail outlets, wine and spirits shops, beer gardens, and on e-commerce platforms.
