After months of anticipated wait since his removal from office, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has unveiled his new party: The Democracy for the Citizens Party (DCP).

DCP, according to the impeached DP, is the listening ear of the citizens, carrying along its slogan Skiza Wakenya. Already, they have started building the party’s social media presence, and it is @DCP_Democracy on X, formerly Twitter.

Subsequently, the party officials have been revealed as follows;

  • Party Leader: Rigathi Gachagua is DCP’s overall leader.
  • National Chairman: David Ole Parseina is the DCP National Party Chairman. Parseina, a Master’s graduate in Pure Mathematics from the University of Nairobi, hails from Kajiado East Constituency, where he vied unsuccessfully for the MP seat in 2022 under the Wiper Party.
  • Deputy Party Leader: Cleophas Malala, the former Kakamega Senator and ex-UDA Secretary General.
  • National Organising Committee Chairperson: Mithika Linturi, the former Agriculture Cabinet Secretary under President William Ruto and immediate former Meru Senator.
  • National Women Leader: Cate Waruguru, the current Laikipia County Woman Representative.
  • Eminent Persons Chairperson: Maina Kamanda, who was nominated by the Jubilee Party to represent special interests in the National Assembly (2017–2022), is the DCP leader of individuals known for their expertise, influence, or legacy of age in a particular field.
  • Chair of Diaspora Caucus: David Njenga Gikonyo.
  • Deputy Party Chairperson for Strategy: Former Limuru MP, Peter Mwathi.
  • Secretary for Education: Current Kasarani MP, Mercy Gakuya.

Notably, Hezron Obatha is the interim Secretary General, deputised by Martin Ole Kamwaro, the former SG of the United Democratic Movement (UDM).

Hannah Mutua is the National Treasurer, Wanjira Njoka her deputy, and Alex Amasi is the National Coordinator of DCP.
