Schneider Electric, a global leader in the digital transformation of energy management and automation, has enhanced its pledge to support technical education in Kenya by substantially donating components and products to Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) institutions nationwide.
The donations were officially handed over during a ceremony at Schneider Electric’s Nairobi offices to representatives from the County Government of Busia, PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute, and Eastlands College of Technology.
These components will directly benefit students in electrical and instrumentation labs in these institutions, equipping them with the practical hands-on experience to ensure they are industry-ready. The components will be deployed in domestic wiring, industrial wiring, and PLC programming, enabling learners to develop essential technical skills
Speaking at the Donation Ceremony Country President, Schneider Electric Kenya Ifeanyi Odoh, emphasized the company’s commitment to empowering young people through education and skill development. He noted that Schneider Electric is dedicated to providing students with access to essential products that will enhance their training experience.
He further highlighted that the donation of equipment to vocational training centers aligns with the government’s efforts to uplift technical education, ensuring that young people across the country have the tools they need to succeed.
This initiative is part of Schneider Electric’s broader mission to train one million youths by 2025, providing them with the tools and skills necessary to excel in the energy and automation sectors. It also builds upon previous milestones, including the launch of the first Schneider Electric Franco-Kenyan Centre of Excellence at PC Kinyanjui Technical Training Institute in Nairobi.
The center, equipped with advanced didactic benches from Schneider Electric, provides practical training in electrical and automation systems and serves as a hub for research, development, and testing of renewable energy and energy-efficient solutions.
Schneider Electric has over the years consistently supported education and professional development through strategic partnerships and innovative training initiatives. Schneider Electric aims to empower youth with the skills and knowledge needed to drive sustainable and technological advancements in local communities.
Speaking on the part of the beneficiaries CECM Education and Industrial Skills Development Busia County Hon. Beatrice Nakholi expressed appreciation for Schneider Electric’s generous contribution, describing it as a timely and impactful boost to vocational institutions she emphasized that the donated equipment will significantly enhance training in electrical and electronics fields across the 27 vocational training centers in Busia county.
Patrick Githinji, Senior Partnerships Director at Eastlands College of Technology, yet another beneficiary for the project also acknowledged Schneider Electric’s continued support, noting that this was the third donation from the company, which underscores its long-term support to technical expertise among the youth in the region.
This initiative was coordinated through Theresia and Fidelis Foundation. This initiative aligns with Schneider Electric’s global commitment to sustainability, innovation, and the advancement of technical education, reinforcing the company’s role as a catalyst for positive change in East Africa’s education sector.
