Renowned journalist, lawyer and businessman Ken Mijungu has lost his job at Cape Media’s TV47, just days after he joined the station.
As negotiations were underway, Cape Media management decided not to proceed with the anchor.
“Having considered the matter, management has taken the decision to revoke the Service Agreement dated 31st January, 2025. This decision takes effect from the 22nd February, 2025. This development notwithstanding, we shall be pleased to engage with you on future possibilities. Management wishes you the best in your future endeavours,” the letter read in part.
Mijungu joined Cape Media’s TV47 in January days after announcing his departure from Standard Group’s KTN.
The move was announced by TV47 on X on Friday, February 7, 2025. The station also announced that it was moving from Channel 268 to Channel 274 on DStv, a slot previously held by KTN News.
“Cape Media is happy to announce that Ken Mijungu will be joining the TV47 team, on the same day the station announced that TV 47 will be moving from Channel 268 to Channel 274, on DStv from 12th February 2025. These come as part of the plans to make TV 47 Bigger, Better and Bolder,” TV47 stated.
Mijungu’s career
Mijungu started his career at CCTV Africa before moving to Mediamax Network Ltd.
Later on, he moved to Nation Media Group (NTV) as a senior reporter and host of Sidebar, a political talk show featuring discussions with prominent figures
In 2020, he shifted to the Standard Media Group (KTN News) as a news anchor and current affairs host.
At KTN News, he was a key figure in political reporting and analysis, although specific shows he hosted there are not widely documented.
Apart from being a journalist, Mijungu is a trained lawyer with a law degree from Moi University and also owns and runs a car hire business, a venture he has been managing alongside his media career.
Ken has traveled to around 56 countries, covering major international news events. He is known for his impeccable fashion sense, owning over 60 suits and 150 neckties.
