The results for the 2024 Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) examination were released today, Thursday, January 9, 2024.
They were announced live by Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos Ogamba at Mitihani House, Nairobi, the headquarters of the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC), the government body that sets and administers the KCSE exams.
CS Ogamba, while highlighting how the 965,512 candidates who took their KCSE exams last year performed, revealed how one can access their results instantly via mobile phones.

The CS said the KCSE 2024 results were available for viewing on the official KNEC KCSE Results Checker portal. You can reach the homepage by typing the URL https://results.knec.ac.ke/ into your browser.
After that, candidates are required to enter their index number in the first text box and one or both names in the second before clicking on “View Results” at the far right of the portal’s welcome page. The results are displayed immediately, free of charge.
When asked if the KCSE examination scores could be accessed via SMS, as has been the tradition in past years, the CS stated that the KCSE 2024 results were unavailable via short messages. This change followed the government’s decision to digitise access to all KNEC-issued education results for improved accessibility, convenience, and cost-effectiveness, as automated systems reduce administrative costs and time spent on manual handling.
KNEC web-based platforms provide 24/7 access to results, allowing students, parents, and schools to interact with the examination body at any time, he said.
