KPLC: Planned Power Outages to Occur in 6 Counties Thursday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), the state-owned utility which transmits, distributes and retails electricity to customers throughout the country, has posted upcoming scheduled maintenance outages that will occur today Thursday, September 19, 2024.

In an alert sent to customers on Wednesday evening, KPLC says the planned power maintenance (the cause of the outages) will be taking place in six counties when they will be conducting upgrades on local distribution systems, composed of underground cables and overhead conductors, to provide safe and reliable service.

The six affected counties are Nairobi, Kiambu, Kajiado, Isiolo, Murang’a and Kisii and the scheduled blackouts will begin at 8:00 AM, the earliest.

These are the precise areas that are going to be affected in the mentioned counties:

1. In Nairobi County;
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

* General Mathenge Drive, Eldama Ravine, Mpaka Road and Suswa Road.

2. In Kiambu County;
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

* Thindigua, Kigwa Farm, Paradise Lost, Muhasibu, Kwaheri Road, Fourways Junction and Bar Next Door.

3. In Kajiado County;
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

* Bisil, Ngatataek, Maili Tisa, Kumpa, Meto, Maparasaha, Kureket, Emotoroki, Lorgusua, Olgulului, Imarba and parts of Namanga Town.

4. In Isiolo County;
8:00 AM to 5:00 PM

* Isiolo Livestock Market, Ngaremara Market, Kona Mbaya, Maili Tano, Maili Saba, BBC, Royal Acacia, Range Lands, Africa Eco, Rèd Crỏss, Canaan, Mugae, Harkrishina, Meru Wood, Isico, Ndunyuruma, Bula Mpya, Olajarole, Pepo la Tumaini, Kambi Odha, Kambi Garba Islamic School, Kambi Garba Catholic Mission, Kambi Turkana, School of Artillèry, Elboran Resort, Kiwanja, Tractor, Attan Primary School, Manyatta Zebra, Sarova Shamba and whole of Wamba and other areas nearby.

5. In Murang’a County;
9:00 AM to 5:00 PM

* Tana Staff Quarters, Olivado, Mirira Dam, Sagana Getaway Resort, Sun Mango Processors and Maranjau Prisỏn.

6. In Kisii County;
8:00 AM to 4:00 PM

* Nyangoge Girls, Kiabusura Secondary School, Kiabusura Market, Motonto and Nyagaancha Dispensary and all adjacent customers.
