KPLC: Nairobi Among 6 Counties to Experience Power Interruption on Tuesday

The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced the six counties that will experience planned power interruptions tomorrow, September 3, 2024; Nairobi included:

In a statement to customers on Monday evening, KPLC said that a part of General Mathenge Drive, Eldama Ravine, Mpaka Road and Suswa Road are the areas that will be affected by the scheduled power outage in Nairobi.

Alongside Nairobi City County, the utility company listed Kiambu, Murang’a, Kisii, Kisumu and Nakuru counties, saying the organised power blackouts are needed for electric system upgrades and repairs to ensure reliability for customers in the affected areas.

“Good evening, our esteemed customers. The following areas are scheduled for power interruption,” KPLC said in a notice to customers on social media, listing the specific areas in the additional counties as follows:

In Kiambu County;

* Kinoo 87, Kinoo Market, Gaitumbi, Baraniki and a part of Muthiga.

In Murang’a County;

* KALRO, Whitestone Ltd, Delview, Sailors Hotel, Bellafam Ltd, Sun-Paper Ltd, Sunstar Hotel, Thika Greens and Githingiri.

In Kisii County;

* Ufanisi Hotel, Storm Hotel, Ram Hospital, Kisii Central Police Station, Kisii Huduma, KTRH, Kisii County Assembly, Kisii Safaricom office, Kisii Blood Bank, Serengeri, Catholic Church, KRA, Postbank, KCB Bank, Co-op Bank and Family Bank Kisii offices.

In Kisumu County;

* Holo Market, Kombewa Market, Kombewa Hospital, KEMRI Kombewa, Wangarot Market, Kolenyo Market, Akado Market, Riat Market, Rata Market, Obambo Market, Alabama, Galore Hotel, Ngege Beach, Osiri, Ogal Beach, Obambo Concrete Firm and all quarries.

In Nakuru County;

* Soilo, Kabarak University, Kabarnet Ravine Daily, Oloika Hotel, Rafiki, Rawhide, Summit Borehole and adjacent customers.

In all six counties, the planned power interruption will take place at diverse times between 8:00 AM, the earliest, and 5:00 PM.

While KPLC technicians will be working on the lines, they are urging affected customers to be patient and to treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the interruption.

During such interruptions, as a precaution, it is advisable to switch appliances off to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
