The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced the areas that will experience planned power interruptions today, Saturday, July 13, 2024.
In a statement to customers on Friday evening, the utility company said that the scheduled power outage would affect the two counties of Uasin Gishu and Siaya at the start of the weekend.
“The interruption is part of network maintenance,” said Kenya Power.
In Uasin Gishu County, the areas which will be affected are Lumakanda Centre, Lumakanda Secondary School, Lumakanda Hospital, Muyuki Centre, Sokomoko, Makutano and Kipkaren Centre from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.
While in Siaya County, the organised blackout will start an hour early at 9:00 AM but end at the same time at 5:00 PM in its areas of Marenyo Health Centre, Ahono, Rabuor Market, Sagam Hospital, Rawa ACK Church, Midhine, Lihanda, Jina Gongo Health Centre, Olengo and all adjacent customers.
Planned power interruptions are needed for electric system upgrades and repairs to ensure reliability for customers, KPLC says.
During such interruptions, as a precaution, it is advisable to switch appliances off to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on.
