Samsung Electronics is improving the performance and security features on the next generation of products like connected home appliances, building products, healthcare devices and industrial automation, with the introduction of an advanced and affordable Internet of Things (IoT) solution dubbed Samsung ARTIK 053.
The new ARTIK 053 module is a lightweight IoT chipset running the Tizen RT, and will equip connected devices with cutting-edge capabilities in addition to a design and development support program that will help customers and partners jumpstart their IoT businesses by making it easier and faster for companies to deliver secure IoT solutions that impact the lives of people across the globe.

The advanced SAMSUNGARTIK Smart IoT platform products were unveiled at this year’s Tizen Developer Conference (TDC) 2017 in San Francisco, running from May 16-17.
The introduction of the lightweight IoT chipset, which incorporates integrated real-time processing via Tizen RT, comes at a time when researchers have raised concerns over the security levels of a number of internet connected devices against hacking or being turned into spy devices.

According to ForeScout’s IoT Enterprise Risk Report, most IoT enabled devices are lacking in even the most basic cybersecurity protocols, making it possible to hack them in as little as three minutes, allowing cyberattackers to steal data, conduct espionage on enterprise activities, or even cause physical damage
Currently, more than 12 billion devices are part of the Internet of Things, and this number is expected to grow to 50 billion by 2020. The range of this products is tremendous and includes such diverse items as cars, refrigerators, televisions, fitness bands, webcams, toys etc.
