A photo showing President William Ruto greeting radio personality Azziad Nasenya has been doctored.

The photo, shared by several social media accounts, shows the President greeting the media personality at the Kenyatta International Convention Centre (KICC).

One of the accounts on X bearing the username @PepeDanson captioned the image, “Ruto together with Azziad: matching & flirting together at public space, even wearing same matching spot shoes.”

Nasenya shared the image on September 5, 2023, with the caption, “But Why?”

A fact-check by Business Today shows that the image was manipulated. The claim was shared days after Nasenya was spotted in a similar pair of shoes to the one the President wore.

A Google reverse image search shows the original photo was taken on September 3, 2023, when Ruto drove an electric car to KICC for the Africa Climate Summit.

Upon his arrival, Ruto was received by Environment Cabinet Secretary Soipan Tuya, and a photo was taken, which was later posted on the Presidential website.

A manual search on Facebook shows the image was also posted on Ruto and State House Kenya’s official pages on September 3, 2023.

Nasenya’s photo used in the manipulated image was posted online on July 7, 2023, on her verified Instagram account.

The image showing President William Ruto greeting media personality Azziad Nasenya is, therefore, doctored.
