President William Ruto has appointed the former presiding bishop of Christ is the Answer Ministries (Citam) David Oginde as the chairperson of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC).
Bishop Oginde will serve for six years, taking over from Archbishop Eliud Wabukala, who retired earlier this year.
Bishop Oginde beat 14 candidates who had been shortlisted by the Public Service Commission (PSC) for the position.
PSC further shrunk the final list to three candidates including Oginde, former Makueni governor Kivutha Kibwana and Amani Yuda Komara.
The Bishop at one time was on record ‘prophesying’ that President William Ruto would work with Azimio la Umoja-One Kenya coalition party leader Raila Odinga.
“I want to prophesy that…it will not be a surprise to see Dr William Ruto and Honourable Raila Odinga on the same side,” said Bishop Oginde.
Bishop Oginde revealed that his net worth stands at Ksh170 million.
Oginde holds a PhD in Organisational Leadership from Regent University School of Business and Leadership, USA.
He is also a graduate of Pan Africa Christian University where he graduated with a Master’s Degree in Leadership.
Oginde is also the immediate former Chancellor of Pan Africa Christian (PAC) University.
He held the presiding bishop post for 10 years at CITAM between 2010 and 2020, and also previously taught at Daystar University.
An Architect by training, Bishop Oginde also holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture from the University of Nairobi and has previously undertaken Biblical Studies at the Trinity Evangelical Divinity School (Trinity International University) in Illinois, USA.
