Raila won August 8 contest, NASA dossier reveals

The National Super Alliance (NASA) has released a dossier containing what it says were authentic and verified results of the nullified August 8 presidential election, which shows its candidate Raila Odinga was elected by a majority 50.24% against President Kenyatta’s 48.92%.

While releasing the analysis of what the formation said was data obtained from the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC)’s Electronic Voter Identification Devices (EVID), Nominated MP Godfrey Osotsi said the coalition made the presentation to prove to the world that the electoral agency had announced the loser to have worn the election.

Siaya Senator James Orengo, who presided over the presentation at a Nairobi hotel, said they justified to push for electoral justice, failure to which it would swear-in Raila and his running mate in the contest Kalonzo Musyoka on January 30.

Osotsi said from their audit, deletions were made to constituency results from sources that illegally gained access to the IEBC servers in order to put President Kenyatta in the lead.

“Deletion was done so that they can vary the data. After they have done the fraud, they displayed the varied data on the portal. What we have on the portal are not results and Kenyans can remember the IEBC chairman wrote a letter to the CEO stating that his log in was used to access the servers without his permission,” said Mr Osotsi

According to the NASA analysis of the said results, Mr Odinga was voted in by 8, 104, 744 Kenyans and won in 28 counties inclusive of the diaspora and votes cast in prisons. The presentation indicated that President Kenyatta only managed to win in 21 counties with a total of 7,908,215 votes based on the EVID data alleged to have been accessed by the NASA IT teams.

“We are telling the whole world that the real winner was Hon. Raila Odinga but unfortunately IEBC in their own wisdom declared the loser as the winner,” said Osotsi.

The presented data indicated that there were a total of 16,163,713 votes cast on the August 8 presidential elections 30, 468 of which were spoiled votes. NASA says the election had 16,133,256 valid votes.

Orengo the audit confirms what the coalition had announced in protest of the poll outcome on August 10, 2017 as provisional results since the ANC party leader and NASA campaign chief Musalia Mudavadi had not been furnished by all the results.

Osotsi said the country needed to talk and walk the path of electoral justice and reforms that will not leave them making their supporters get out to vote only to have the results altered to favour one side.

The release of the dossier came as Chief Justice David Maraga disowned a letter circulating on social media indicating he was barred judicial officers from presiding over the planned swearing in of Raila and Kalonzo as the People’s President and People’s Deputy President. He said his powers are only limited to disciplining errant officers.

Local business and religious leaders with the support of western envoys have been pushing for NASA and Jubilee to dialogue but the two sides are divided on the agenda items.

The United Nations is also said to have dispatched former Nigerian president Olesegun Obasanjo to seek a truce.
