Kimisitu Sacco has partnered with KOTO Ltd, a house development company, to make it easy for its members to buy houses. Towards this end, the Sacco has launched Makao Halisi, a financing product through members will pay for the houses.
This is part of the Sacco’s growth strategy that is hinged on growing its member’s wealth and personal development. Speaking during the launch on Saturday, Kimisitu Sacco Chairperson Janerose Mwangi noted that the sacco is developing new products to meet customer needs, with special focus on housing. “The launch of Makao Halisi in partnership with KOTO Housing Limited is a culmination of our members’ desire to own homes. In a way, Kimisitu is contributing towards fulfillment of Vision 2030,” she added.
Ms Mwangi said the partnership with KOTO Housing will deliver ideal houses in a relatively short period, thus giving members convenience “by way of earlier occupation and early payback for the investment.”
Kimisitu Sacco offers a number of financial products including various loans for development loan, purchase of machinery, insurance premiums, education and house buying. Ms Mwangi said Kimisitu Sacco targets to hit the 10,000 members by end of this year.
The Principal Secretary for Industrialisation, Trade and Cooperatives Ali Noor, who represented the Cabinet Secretary, said increasing access to housing would cushion members from high rents.
