In a statement issued on Monday, May 27, 2024, Kenya Power said the outage is aimed at implementing crucial improvements that will ultimately benefit consumers.

“We wish to inform our customers that the prepaid token vending system will be unavailable from 10:00 PM, Sunday, 2nd June to 10:00 PM, Monday, 3rd June to enable us to upgrade our systems for improved service delivery,” Kenya Power said.

During the system outage, which will run until 10:00 pm on Monday, June 3, 2024, access to electricity tokens will be unavailable across all vending points, including Kenya Power offices, M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money, and banking channels.
